Mumbai, Dec 17: Mulund police arrested one of the two alleged assailants who brutally assaulted a man waiting for a bus wearing headphones resulting in his death.
According to police, Manohar Uttekar (20), resident of Sainagar Chawl of Tambe Nagar, Mulund east was waiting at Andheri bus stop lane wearing headphones to answer calls on his phone.
Two persons known to Manohar came close to him asking him the reason for wearing headphones. One of them pulled his headphone before Manohar could answer, questioning his presence there as he was a stranger. In a heated argument that ensued, the assailants attacked Manohar with stones and broken paver blocks found there.
Manohar was initially shifted to a local hospital and J J hospital later for serious head injuries. He reportedly succumbed to injuries on Monday. One of the assailants is arrested by Mulund police on the basis of a complaint by 40 year old Chanda Shivananda Gowda, neighbor of Manohar while the second suspect is absconding.
The accused who was initially arrested for attempted murder is termed as suspected killer after the death of the victim.
