Panaji, Dec 16: On Sunday, Farmers and residents of Aquem-Baixo, Margao gathered in large numbers in fields of Ravanford to protest moves by the government to dump residual waste from bio-remediation of the Sonsoddo legacy dump.

Savio Countinho from Shadow Council, Margao accused the officials of manipulating facts before the high court.

They pointed out that while the government had initiated land acquisition proceedings in 2003, the district court set aside the land acquisition award in January 2015.

As per Countinho, the land which was not meant for dumping storage waste was identified as one through fraudulent tactics by government authorities.
