Kundapur: Youth who came for Kodi festival washed away while swimming in sea

Kundapur, Dec 11: A youth who had arrived with three more of his friends by bikes for Kodi festival here was washed away when they got down into sea for bath and a swim in the sea.

The incident tookplace near Koderi Gangebailu Ramamandira, Kirimanjeshwar village in Byndoor police station limits. The young man who died by drowning is identified as Niranjan (17) the son of Ananth Kumar, resident of Ashok Nagar, Tumakuru.

Their friend, Koderi resident Aprameya is a student of BCom in Tumakuru. His four friends Niranjan, Fanidatta, Sudeep and Dikshit had arrived by bike to the house of Aprameya’s grandmother here for Kodi festival. The four men had gone to the sea near the house for swimming on Wednesday morning. All the four were washed away in the current at about 11.45 am. Though three of them managed to reach the shore, Niranjan was unable to make it.

Niranjan’s body has been kept in Byndoor government hospital mortuary. A police case is registered at Byndoor police station.
