Bengaluru, Dec 8: The Central tax officials have issued a warning to all the turf clubs against evading GST. Just a day ago, sleuths of Central Crime Branch (CCB) raided the Bengaluru Turf Club.
Speaking to the scribes on the query of CCB raid on Bengaluru Turf Club, principal chief commissioner of central tax, Bengaluru (Karnataka) zone, D P Nagendra Kumar said, "We are aware of GST violations by several turf clubs. Raids will be conducted on all the turf clubs across the country to verify this fact."
According to the top tax officials, the department is gathering data on the days when there are huge cash deals in the turf clubs. Nagendra Kumar further said that they will raid the clubs based on the data inputs they have received. He suspects the bookies of evading the GST when there are increased cash deals in the clubs.
It may be recalled that Rs 96 lac was confiscated by the CCB sleuths on Friday, December 6, when they did a lightning strike on Bengaluru Turf Club. Besides, they have taken into custody 40 persons in this connection.
