Mumbai, Dec 4: Earlier in the week, Crime Branch Mumbai raided a prime apartment in South Bombay on suspicion that it was being used as a brothel.
As per officials, the owner resides in Malaysia and the caretaker, Haneef Sharakali Uddin is a native of Assam. Reportedly, the apartment was given out to a hospitality chain.
After receiving a tipoff, the police officials from the Social Security Branch (SSB) sent a decoy to befriend Uddin. Soon after, the SSB officials raided the flat and rescued two girls who were forced into prostitution.
Constructed in 1938, Jorawar Bhavan was given on 999-year lease by the then governor-general to Pratapsingh Raja of Sant state of Gujarat. In 1948, the Sant state was ceded to India and the properties were taken over by the government.
