Mumbai, Dec 2: Maharashtra Konkan Association held a cultural programme to celebrate its silver jubilee at Kurla West, St Jude church grounds on Sunday evening. Christian chamber of commerce and industries founder president, Vincent Mathias commended the goal of the association concerning Konkani vernacular language and called on the community youth to be entrepreneurs.
Infant Jesus Church parish priest, Fr Nelson Saldanha blessed and set the programme in motion. Model camp executive president, W D‘Souza presided over the programme. CCCI president Antony Sequeira, former president Henry Lobo, Model Bank directors, Vincent Mathias, Abraham Clement Lobo. Advocate Pius Vas, Benedicata Rebello, Divo Konkani Weekly editor, Lawrence Coelho, dramatist, Francis Fernandes Cascia, president’s medal winner teacher, Jean Moses Gomes, social worker Richard D’Sa, entrepreneur Roshan Thomas and Prem Paul Vas who were guests of honour felicitated the artistes and wished them well.
Daya Special school Beltangandi director, Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, Fr Nelson Saldanha, Fr Leo Lobo, Sr Veronica Menezes, Sr Florine D’Souza, Susanna Coelho and other elite were present.
Konkani drama ‘Vechogi Ravncho’ written by comedian, Pradeep Barboza was staged by Sangon Mugdana artistes. Pradeep Barboza Paladka, Godwin Castelino Attur, Royston D’Souza Bolkunje, Paul D’Souza Paladka, Vernon D’Souza, Lavina Fernandes Pangla, Helvin Barboza Kulur, Venicia Rodrigues Alangar, Nanu Marol Thottam, Franklin Mascarenhas, Danny D’Souza Pamboor and Melwin D’Almeida were the artistes in the drama.
Association president, Leo Fernandes Jerimeri welcomed the gathering. Cyril Castelino introduced the guests. Lilly Fernandes, Ida Rodrigues, Mercine Miranda, Flora D’Souza Kalmady, Severine D’Souza, Juliana Mascarenhas, Victor Pereira, Lenon Fernandes and John Rodrigues presented flower bouquets to the guests and honoured them.
Levin Fernandes compered the programme. Vice-president Walter D’Souza Kalmady rendered the vote of thanks.
