Bantwal, Nov 28: In a tragic incident that occurred at Karpe Mugeru near Siddakatte under the Bantwal rural police station limits, a woman committed suicide by jumping into the well on Thursday, November 28.
Pratibha Jain (35), wife of Abhay Jain, a resident of Mugeru, is the deceased woman.
Pratibha's husband had left at 5 am from the house to Hassan in order to attend a relative's marriage. Pratibha killed herself at around 6 am. Pratibha has two sons, who are toddlers.
Jinarajaiah, a resident of Samshe in Chikkamagaluru and father of deceased Pratibha have filed a complaint at the Bantwal rural police station against Bhujabali, father-in-law of Pratibha, accusing him of mentally harassing his daughter, which has prompted her to kill herself.
Wife of Bhujabali, father-in-law of the deceased, died two months ago due to kidney failure. He was making preparations for a second marriage. Certain minor issues in this connection were causing arguments inside the house, it is said. In addition, Bhujabali used to mentally harass Pratibha also according to the complaint filed by her father Jinarajaiah.
Bantwal circle inspector T D Nagaraj, SI of Bantwal rural police station Prasannd and personnel have visited the spot and are undertaking further investigation.
