Mangaluru: Women’s organisation ‘Power’ opens stall at NMPT

Mangaluru, Nov 26: Power (Platform of Women Entrepreneurs), an organisation based in Udupi, has set up their stalls here at cruise lounge at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) on Tuesday, November 26 in order to sell the products to
various nationalities arriving in cruise ships and to provide a great exposure to women entrepreneurs.

A cruise from Italy named Costa Victoria has arrived to NMPT with 1,900 passengers via Dubai, Mumbai and will proceed to Kochi from Mangaluru.

Power is an association of women entrepreneurs, women in family business and aspiring women entrepreneurs. The stalls like Alankrita web boutique, painting, handicrafts, painting were set up at cruise lounge.

President of Power organisation, Shruthi Shenoy said, "NMPT chairman V Raman was so encouraging and supportive to put up the stalls at the cruise lounge and made all kind of necessary arrangements. We have four stalls, one stall exclusively for power hamper which will sell to the nationalities arriving in the cruise. Putting up a stall will help us to showcase and sell our products made by women entrepreneurs. People have responded positively for our stalls and it is a great exposure for women entrepreneurs. Power is celebrating decennial year, in the year 2020 and we are going to have ‘Power Parba 2020’, a marketing fair exclusively to showcase our products made by women entrepreneurs.

Founder member and former president of Power, Sadhana Mallya said, "Power is a platform for women entrepreneurs, a group of women who are already in different businesses. We thought to get together and form a group. We started in the year 2009 with just 11 members and today we stand up with 90 plus members. NMPT has given us the opportunity to sell our products, which are manufactured by our women entrepreneurs. After the successful Udupi and Manipal chapter, we will soon come up with a Mangaluru chapter.”

Police commissioner Dr P S Harsha said, "Mangaluru is a growing global tourism hub. Today, an international cruise has arrived and the entrepreneurs from Udupi have displayed their artistic works. Women entrepreneurs are the crux of the whole new way of new generation entrepreneurship. The women entrepreneurs have come forward making this happening place and this will help various nationalities to expose to the culture of this place.”

Chairman of NMPT A V Ramana said, "Women entrepreneurs from Udupi under the banner ‘Power’ had approached NMPT for business promotion. We always encourage tourism, local talents, artisans and entrepreneurship has given the platform for the women entrepreneurs to sell various products and will boost the local trade and culture.”

Entrepreneur Supriya R Kamath said, “Power is a registered body and NGO. Power has given me a lot of exposure and helped me to showcase my entrepreneur skills. It was good opportunity to build the network and got a chance to participate for MSME award function. I have also won emerging business tycoon award and the credit must go to the organization. Even my daughter is a young, budding entrepreneur as she does Acrylic painting and it is also a opportunity for her to exhibit her painting and Power is bringing out her entrepreneur skills.”

NMPT traffic manager Y R Belagal, Entrepreneurs Rashmi Vijayendra, Poonam Shetty and others were present.

Power Parba 2020

Power (Platform of Women Entrepreneurs) organization, based in Udupi, will conduct ‘Power Parba 2020’, an exhibition cum sale from January 10 to 12, 2020 at Mahatma Gandhi Bayalu Ranga Mandira, Beedinagudde in Udupi in order to promote women entrepreneurs.
