Udupi, Aug 26: Sri Sugunendrateerta Swami of Puttige Mutt, here inaugurated a seminar on ‘contributions of Sri Madwacharya to scientific world’, at Rajangan, here on Wednesday August 26 morning. The seminar was organized under the aegis of Sri Krishna Mutt, Swadeshi Vijnan Andolan–Karnataka and Sri Vadiraj Research Foundation, Puttige.
Sanskrit scholar Bannanje Govindacharya, in his keynote address, said that many of those who have conducted in-depth studies in Sanskrit, lack scientific knowledge of modern era, while those who have done extensive studies on science, do not possess sufficient knowledge of Sanskrit. Therefore, there is a yawning gap between the two, he analyzed. If both these two spheres join together, it can make significant contributions to the world, he felt.
At the same time, Govindacharya also emphasized that Madhwacharya had revolutionized the perspective of gaining knowledge, by constantly raising probing questions throughout his life, as the information passed on since generations together was being accepted blindly without testing the information. “Madhwacharya introduced a scientific thinking process about Vedas. Moreover, it’s essential to study Madwacharya’s perspective by the Indian science students. The westerners have read the Indian Vedas and introduced them in their faculty. This makes it obvious that there is a need for introspection on ancient Vedas, which has not been done so far owing to the negligence of the Indian scientists,” he emphasized.
MLC Capt Ganesh Karnic, Dharwad University Sanskrit lecturer Dr Krishnamurti P Archak, LIC Kozhikode zonal officer Dr N V Kamath and Tirupati National Sanskrit University retired vice-chancellor Dr V R Panchamukhi were the chief guests of the occasion.
Swadeshi Vijnan Andolan state president Dr G N Bhat delivered the introductory address.
Admar Pre-University College Sanskrit lecturer Dr Jayashanker welcomed the gathering.
Gopal Acharya compered the programme.
