Mangaluru, Nov 25: Mangalurean beauty Veena Viraj Almeida was crowned Mrs India Universe Top Charity Queen and Woman of Substance 2019 at a beauty pageant held in Mauritius recently.
Veena Viraj Almeida is daughter of Joachim and Carmine D’Souza. She was born and brought up in Mangaluru, later settled in Mumbai after marrying Viraj.
Veena is an educationist, social worker and also the winner of Mrs India Universe Maharashtra 2019. Mrs India Universe is a pageant for married women to showcase their beauty, talent, glamour and culture. Veena represented Maharashtra in grand finale of Mrs India Universe 2019 which was held at Trianon Convention Centre in Mauritius.
Veena, famed for her social work, has raised maximum funds at Child Help Foundation, an NGO that works for health and care of children in need of medical assistance. Many children lose their lives to various ailments. They cannot receive treatment due to poor economic conditions. Veena raised funds and tried her best to help the Child Help Foundation that aids various emergency medical support programmes.
For her support to this social cause, she has received top charity queen title and she has been crowned by Indian model and television Bollywood actor Barun Sobti.
She was crowned Mrs India Universe Woman of Substance 2019 by Ratnadeep Lal, chairman IIFT India.
Veena credits support by her parents, husband Viraj, son Vane, in-laws, family members, relatives, friends and well wishers for her success.
