Mangaluru: Patla Satish Shetty issue - Minister Poojary seeks complete report

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Nov 24: The incident that occurred during the first show of this season's tour of Kateel Yakshagana troupe at the Car Street of Kateel temple has taken ugly turn. Renowned Bhagavatha Patla Satish Shetty, who had come on the stage to perform, was asked to leave. Now, director of the troupe, Kalladi Deviprasad Shetty has clarified the issue. At the same time district in-charge minister has sought a report on the incident.

In his clarification Kalladi Deviprasad Shetty said, "At 12.30 am of Friday, Satish had come to the chowki (place where the artistes in the play do make up and wear costumes) and received the prasada and went away without speaking to me, though I was very much present at the spot. Later, I called him through others to the chowki and told in front of everyone, not to do the Bhagavathike this time. Sathish, who had left the chowki after my instructions, suddenly entered the stage after half an hour. Though I had instructed him not to enter the stage, he has defied my orders. The statement of Satish that I have not given him any prior intimation is a blatant lie.”

"It was decided that Patla Satish Shetty will not be allowed to perform in this year's tour of the Kateel troupe as he did not obey any discipline pertaining to the troupe. In addition, he had given public statement against the director of the troupe and the administration. Patla Sathish Shetty is very much aware of this fact,” he added.

"In addition, Satish could have spoken to me in this regard. But he did not do so. He has not participated in any of the traditional activities of the Kateel Yakshagana troupe after the completion of last year's tour of the troupe on May 25 at Pattenaje. He has not even attended the Gejje (anklet) tying ceremony. Similarly, he did not even come during the salary and advance distribution of the artistes. On the day of Ashtami, honorary payment is given to the artistes. But Sathish did not even attend that function. So his name was removed from all the six troupes that are run by the Kateel Kshetra." he concluded.

In the meantime, Kota Srinivas Poojary, district-in-charge minister, has instructed Sindhu B Roopesh, DC of Dakshina Kannada district to submit a comprehensive report to the government on the present situation of the Kateel Yakshagana troupe and the incident that occurred on the first performance of this year's tour.

This is very much instigated incident by Patla...He may be talented and liked by few supporters... But he is arrogant, he is employed by Kateel mela and has to bound by its rule. Checking out people for behaviors issues are common in any filed. Even corporate companies checks out top talent when attitude is an issue.

Attitude! Very sad to to see proudness of artist! This is nothing but ego clash, Patla's talent no doubts at all but he thought himself greatest and act like himself superior, this is called arrogance!

Obey orders from your managers, From last few years he has started to mobilise funds to help underprivileged artists and this regard met gulf businessmen too, everyone supported his good gestures with overflowing love n our people donated but Patla thought because of him people throw funds.

Gulf people wants recognision n Glory, this what Patla figure out and discounted too.

His philanthropist thoughts and attitude not matching and has to learn from Mangalore based Kudmul Ranga Rao and Karnard Shadashiv Rao biographies and learn their humbleness.

Arrogance and talents both are humane opposite directions of life's journey. More talented u shall be more humble because God is kind with u.

This guy has shot to fame within short time and is giving programmes overseas.

Success might have gone to his head because of which he is not giving any damn to the manager.

He should follow the traditions of Yakshagana.

he should also keep in mind that "Every Pride has a fall"

    Mr Rathan.

the highcourt has already given ruling in favour of commitee and has asked to maintain the present status hence DC or any ilakhe cannot interfere in this matter. every organisation has a set off rules which every employee has to follow and Patla is not an expception to this.

eg - Sachin tendulkar may be greatest player but he was always supposr to follow BCCI rules same way .

Patla exceptional talent and a great artist of our Tulunadu , but rules is same for a small artist and him in the mela. Lets sense prevail .

Correct Namith.. You should not forget the root from where you came from once you become famous, Attitude matters some time.. He have lots of commitment outside the circle of Kateel mela. I guess for a sake he went there for performance.
