Mangaluru, Nov 22: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, has asked the officials to complete all works under the Smart City Project at the earliest.
She was speaking after presiding over Smart City inter-departmental meeting held at the auditorium of her office on Thursday, November 21.
She expressed resentment at the fact that some main roads in the city are pending development because of objections raised by land owners. She asked the officials to hasten the process of land transfer through TDR. She instructed the officials to have regular liaison with various departments like railway and national highways authority and get work done at a fast pace rather than writing letters and wait for replies. She said that unless communication between departments is established and work is followed up regularly, execution of plans will get delayed.
About the housing scheme at Shaktinagara under Ashraya scheme facing problems because of deemed forest rules, she directed the officials either to get the problem addressed or identify land somewhere else.
She also asked KUDCEMP authorities to quicken the pace of underground drainage works.
Managing director of Smart City Project, Muhammed Nazeer, informed that there is strong objection from the police department for the proposal to turn RTO -clock tower stretch into one-way traffic as important offices like deputy commissioner's office and fire brigade are located on this route and on account of frequent visit of VVIPs to Nehru Maidan. He said that as the police feel that this proposal is not practicable, the issue of dropping of this proposal would be considered.
City corporation commissioner Shanadi Ajit Kumar Shetty and other officials were present.
