Bantwal, Nov 22: The police personnel of the town station here, acting under the leadership of police circle inspector, T D Nagaraj, arrested a person from Kalladka for kissing a school girl.
The accused has been identified as Bolantur, Kalladka resident Rahim, who happens to be an auto rickshaw driver. A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered against him.
Details of the incident
The school girl in question was sitting on the verandah of Panchavati Commercial Complex waiting for her friend. An auto rickshaw driver, Rahim, who saw that the girl was alone, came close to her, before hugging and kissing her. The girl raised an alarm as she was caught unawares by this shameful act. The accused fled from the scene before local people reached there.
The police, who sensed that this incident might snowball into a major issue and disrupt communal harmony in this communally sensitive town, took the accused into custody. The timely action by the police before the situation went out of hand has come in for all-round appreciation.
Bantwal police circle inspector T D Nagaraj, probationary SI Kumar, ASI Jayaram and staff took part in the operation under the guidance of Bantwal ASP Saidul Adavat.
