Kundapur, Nov 21: MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty, who got irate due to the delayed action of the concerned officials in resolving the sand shortage issue under the limits of Kundapur legislative constituency, took to task the officials of Mines and Geology department on Wednesday, November 20 at Kundapur taluk panchayat office.
MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty questioned, "Why tender is not called for extracting sand from the remaining dunes? Though it is notified to start the short tender process under the old sand policy, you people have not yet implemented the same. How many more areas of CRZ are still pending for the tender process?"
Replying to the query of MLA, Anjaneyappa, senior officer of Mines and Geology department said that tendering process is pending in Shankaranarayana and Molahalli and he will speak to the DC and district sand committee as soon as possible.
Taluk panchayat president Shyamala S Kundar, vice president Ramkishan Hegde, acting executive officer Dr Nagabhushana Udupa, officer of Mines and Geology department Mahadevappa, Shankara Ankadakatte and Sadananda Balkoor were present.
