Kundapur, Nov 20: Street singer, Vaikunta (32), who used to sing ‘Pardesi Pardesi Jana Nahin.. Mujhe Chodke … Mujhe Chodke' and other songs in his own inimitable style by using empty bottles for background music and who had also featured in 'YouTube' channel, and had become a household name, sadly died all of a sudden due to multiple organs failure in Udupi district government hospital.
Vaikunta, who used to entertain people in Kundapur market every day had a good fan following.
Vaikunta was addicted to liquor. He was found to be suffering from ill health by the roadside at Kundapur. He had been admitted into the district hospital on November 13 by his fan, Ranjit from Kundapur. Ranjit and Prasad Byndoor had accused Dr Nagesh of the district hospital of insulting them and dithering from admitting Vaikunta into the hospital when they sought his admission.
Relating to the said incident, a complaint against the doctor and counter complaint by the doctor were registered in the town police station here.
Dr Nagesh said that there was no question of any negligence and every effort was made to save the life of Vaikunta but he did not respond to treatments.
Vaikunta's well-wishers and fans said that some people offered him liquor, got him to sing songs, and uploaded the videos on YouTube. They tried to lay siege to the hospital on Tuesday, accusing the doctors of negligence.
