Brahmavar, Nov 19: The personnel of highway patrol squad rescued a retired engineer who was trying to end his life by plunging into river Sita on Monday November 18. The incident happened at Mabukala near here.
The person who tried to end his life has been identified as Nagaraj, native of Voderahobli in Kundapur. He is currently a resident of Bengaluru. Highway patrol staff, Prashanth Padukere, saved his life.

Policeman, Prashanth, and assistant sub-inspector, Jayashekhar, were travelling towards Brahmavar in highway patrol vehicle after completing their duty at Kota when they saw that Nagaraj was attempting to jump into river at Mabukala. Prashanth stopped the vehicle, rushed towards Nagaraj, stopped him, and gave him some advice about the value of one's life, and took him to the government hospital at Brahmavar. After the first aid, Nagaraj said he was frustrated by his ill health and because of depression on this issue, he had decided to end his life.
Nagaraj's children at Bengaluru were informed about the development. He was admitted into the government hospital at Ajjarkadu Udupi for further treatment.
The people have showered lavish praise on the timely action of the police which saved a life.
