Bengaluru, Nov 15: Roshan Baig, seven-time legislator is left in mid water by chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa as he denied giving a party ticket to Baig in the upcoming by elections. This was revealed by the CM himself on Friday.
Baig was expecting that the BJP would induct him in the party as well as give a ticket to contest from his own constituency of Shivajinagar. However, he had to taste bitterness on both fronts. He was not inducted into BJP, though the other 16 disqualified MLAs were welcomed by the party.
Speaking to reporters on the subject, Yediyurappa said, "I have clarified the matter to Roshan Baig. We have given the party ticket to Sharavana, who is a former councillor. I have asked Roshan Baig to work for his victory. However, he is free to make his own decision. I have told Baig that the circumstances are not conducive for the party to take him in."
According to sources, BJP is keeping distance with Baig because he was detained by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is probing the multi-crore I Monetary Advisory (IMA) scam. In addition, he was also accused of allegedly involving himself in the murder of RSS worker Rudresh. Moreover, Baig was found to use abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a video that went viral in 2017.
In all probability Baig will contest as an independent in the by-elections.
