Pakistan installs statue of Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman

Karachi, Nov 12 (IANS): In a bizarre propaganda, Pakistan has put on display a mannequin of Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman whose plane was shot down over Kashmir earlier this year.

According to reports in the Pakistani media, the life-sized mannequin of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, complete with his signature moustache, has been installed in an exhibit at a museum in Karachi run by the Pakistan Air Force.

Varthaman's plane was shot down in a dogfight over the Himalayan region of Kashmir in February during clashes which brought India and Pakistan to the brink of war.

After his capture, the Pakistani military released a video showing him sipping a cup of tea and politely refusing to answer questions.

The exhibit at Karachi museum includes, according to Pakistan media claims, parts of the fuselage and tail of his aircraft, a Mig-21, his watch, as well as a tea mug, though apparently not the same the pilot was seen sipping from.

Varthaman was released within a few days in a peace gesture from Pakistan aimed at defusing tensions.

The mannequin stands in a gallery named Operation Swift Retort.

The gallery also contains images re-enacting the moment his plane was shot down, and photographs showing him being handed back to India at the Wagah border crossing.

The museum stands inside a recreational park for young people in Karachi, complete with decomissioned aircraft and other military hardware.

We Indian should be really proud that Pakistan installs statue of Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. Truly, he is a hero. Even after the capture, he did not lose his courage and boldly faced Pak Military.

This is a history now! Displaying his statue and exhibiting at a museum in Karachi run by the Pakistan Air Force means, very soon there will be a lesson on him in their text book for the Pakistani children.

It was a huge success for Pakistan, shooting down Indian Mig-21. Fortune was with Pakistan on that fateful day . All the video evidence and hard evidence was there for the world to see it live.
Abhinandan is a Hero for India, But for Pakistan he a neither a Hero nor a Villian. They are just proud that they caught him alive and had the last laugh.

To remind themselves that they had to drink his left over tea and remind themselves that they had to be satisfied with his statue as the original is beyond their reach and capabilities and they don't have enough guts to make direct attack..

very cheap attitude by the Pakis. anyway we need not give much coverage to these things in our country.

Abhinandan was a hero. Even while talking he held his head high and gave just the information he is supposed to give and no secrets.

It just shows their level.....we made their 93000 soldiers surrendered, yet Indian Army treated them with humanity. Afterall our soldier was a real hero, who didn't run or surrender like their 93000 soldiers....
