We have to Change Image of Ugly Indian Politician: Advani

Chandigarh, Aug 17 (IANS):  Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani Monday strongly emphasised on the need to change the image of Indian politicians.

"The image of a politician in the eyes of the common person is not good. People are afraid of their leaders and do not want to approach them. Now we have to take the responsibility to change the image of the ugly Indian politician," Advani said after releasing a book here Monday evening.

He added: "There is a sharp decline in the principles of youth joining politics. All of them want an instant rise but lack the values of dedication and selfless service. In fact, every field of society has seen a downfall in values, but unfortunately, people raise fingers only towards politicians."

Advani was in Chandigarh Monday to release the biography of former Punjab minister and senior BJP leader Balramji Dass Tandon.

Advani, who is heading to Shimla Tuesday for the three-day 'Chintan Baithak' of the BJP, refused to answer any media queries on the internal rumblings within the party.

"The standard of our teachers, doctors and even journalists have degraded in the past few years. During the elections, a political party can easily buy space in a newspaper or in the electronic media," stated Advani.

"You just need to pay few lakh of rupees and the newspaper will publish a whole page describing your achievements. The next day, the rival party will buy a page to counter it. This is a serious problem that our present politics and journalism is facing," said Advani.

"I often tell youngsters who join our party to maintain a clean image and to bring in the ethics of dedication and hard work. If our politicians are corrupt then it will certainly have an adverse effect on our society."

Good idea Mr. Advani!!! Why don''t you take the initiative to begin with your BJP and with the States of Gujarath & Karnataka, before you plan to start a ''NEW YATRA?'' The whole of India will remember you for this ''GREAT FAVOUR'' perpetually!! Good Luck!!! Don''t hesitate...

Wah re Wah Mr Advani, Besh, Chor ulta Kotwal to daante. Is it a form of repentence statement or soul searching exercvise you have done in your last days of life???? You know it better who started the great communual devide in India and neighbour to neighbour hate. You are the pioneer of hate speeches, unfounded lies and dirty morale less politics in India. God will not bless you even after your death for the wrong done to the Indians in the name of religion... You must sincerely repent to God to get salvation. As long as the people of India dont forgive you God shall not forgive you for your misdeeds.

Mr. Advani, you must have heard this phrase "Physician, heal thyself". Look at the religious divide you helped to create through the Rath Yatra. The legacy of your misdeeds will live on long after you have gone, thanks to your idealogical brainwashing of the insecure masses. Those in the majority who were secure in themselves did not feel the need to be swayed by your rhetoric.

But the rift you created among the otherwise harmonious society is proof enough as to who the "ugly politician" is. (BTW, this has no reference to esthetics and good looks, where too you are in deficit. Not to miss that shrill provocative tone of yours).

People dont approach politicians not because they are afraid, they just know them too well. I am not scared of approaching any politician. I am just ashamed and embarrassed to tell them that I have only a few 10 rupee notes in my wallet which I need for my groceries or for my conveyance. We shouldn''t be blaming the younger politicians.

There is no point in suggesting something unless you have a will and desire to do the same. Isn''t it Advani who called our learned and pious prime minister a ''shikandi''? If one can stoop down to such low levels, without respecting each others stature, strength as well as weakness, who will respect? And, for whom is the advice? If you have to do something, do it. Be a role model, be a true leader.

Very sad to know the plight of an Indian. Mr. Advani says the common man is afraid of politicians. It should be the other way round, the politicians should be afraid of the common man. After reading such news, i think is it worth it to return back to India???
