Doha, Nov 12: Karnataka Sangha Qatar [KSQ] will celebrate 64th Karnataka Rajyotsava and also the 20th anniversary of the association on Friday, November 15.
The celebration consists of several famous personalities, singers and artistes performing on a single stage bringing the joy, grandeur and making the day memorable for the decades to come.
Well-known Kannada novelist, Padmashree Dr S L Bhyrappa, a Saraswathi Samman awardee will grace the function as special guest of honour. He has written 24 novels, an autobiography dating back 23 years and eight collections of essays. His novels have been translated to all the 14 languages officially recognized in India. He will be conferred with the prestigious ‘Seventh Qatar Kannada Samman’ award during the occasion.
Sandalwood superstar, Powerstar Puneet Rajkumar, the last son of legendary matinee idol Dr Rajkumar will be the honorary guest for the evening. He has acted in more than 27 movies in Kannada and started acting at the age of just six months. He is also the host of popular Kannada TV Show ‘Kannadada Kotyadipathy’, the local version of KBC. He will indeed be the star attraction.
The cultural fiesta will have performances by members of host Karnataka Sangha and other Karnataka-based organisations like Tulukoota, Bunts Qatar and Qatar Billavas.
A musical troupe from Karnataka is especially flown-in to entertain and also to educate about our ancient tradition and history. This troupe is led by Dr Sanjay, a professional dancer, well-versed in Bharatanatyam and Kuchupudi. He along with his team of 10 young and energetic dancers will surely entertain the Doha audience with their lively performance.
Multi-talented personality Vijayendra Athnikar will be the host of the evening. He is well known for his programme ‘Shubodaya Karnataka, which he hosts on Doordarshan Chandana TV. Apart from hosting shows on many channels he is also very popular musician and sound artiste. Budding singers Shree Harsha and Mythri Iyer will entertain the audience with evergreen melodies and tunes to which the listeners will be enthralled. All Kannadigas are requested not to miss this wonderful event, which will be held on Friday, November 15 at 4 pm at DPS Al Wakrah auditorium.
