Mangaluru, Nov 12: Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Sindhu B Rupesh, directed the officials to give priority to strictly implement rules relating to road safety all over the district towards minimizing number of road accidents.
"Setting up of permanent barricades, filling of potholes on the roads, keeping street lights in working condition, etc should be undertaken without delay," she stated.

Speaking at the district level road safety committee meeting at her office on Monday, she stressed that precautionary measures have to be undertaken in accident zones, and directed the officials to take strict action against those who are found carrying students and passengers in goods transport vehicles. She said that a control room has been set up by the health department for government-run ambulance service. She felt that there is a need to have a system of monitoring movement of private ambulance service.
Acting regional transport officer, Ramakrishna Rai, and district superintendent of police, B M Laxmi Prasad, were present.
