Mangaluru, Nov 11: All preparations are on for the election of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, November 12 for the 60 wards.
The Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) are being readied at Rosario School in the city. They will be taken to the respective polling booths in the afternoon of Monday, November 11.
There are 448 polling booths in 60 wards of the MCC. Out of these 75 are identified as critical whereas the rest 373 are considered as normal. There will be heavy police protection during the polling. 33 sector mobile police units, 12 inspector mobile units and four ACP mobile units will be on duty right from the evening of Monday, November 11.
There will be eight police check posts including night patrolling and picketing. One head constable and one home guard will be guarding the polling booths at critical areas, while one police constable and one home guard are allotted for normal polling stations.
The total deployment of police force for the polling day of November 12 is two DCPs, four ACPs, 12 police inspectors, 32 police sub-inspectors, 77 assistant sub-inspectors, 511 head constables and constables and 193 personnel of Home guards.
To tackle any unforeseen incidents, five KSRP and 10 CA striking forces are also deployed.
