Mangaluru: Little Sisters of the Poor’s ‘Festival of Charity’ inaugurated

Mangaluru, Nov 10: Parish priest of Kulshekar Church, Fr Victor Machado inaugurated 'Festival of Charity’, a day-long mini carnival organized by Little Sisters of the Poor at Maroli here on Sunday, November 10.

Addressing the gathering Fr Victor Machado said, "Little Sisters of the Poor are conducting this festival of charity for the noble purpose of helping the poor. By sharing, what we have, with others will enrich our lives. I congratulate little sisters of the poor for putting efforts to organize such festivals.”

The carnival is organized for a noble cause and will host a variety of food stalls, which include homemade delicacies, take away food, assorted pastries and savories, ice creams, exciting games, request songs, gift hampers and handicrafts items. The music will be an additional entertainment. The entry is free.

The Little Sisters of the Poor are taking care of around 70 inmates of both sexes, aged above 65 years, belonging to all the religions. They provide them with basic amenities without any charge for the rest of their lives. The institution aims to provide them holistic health care, which includes physical, mental, moral and spiritual, and thus assist them to spend their time with dignity, peace and joy in the twilight period of their life.

Two nuns of this institution visit the surrounding areas of Mangaluru daily and collect funds in cash and kind to meet the minimum requirements of their residents. It is solely by the public charity and generosity that the institution manages to meet the daily needs of this facility.

Edward Saldanha, one of the benefactors of the institution, was also present. Mother superior Sr Catherine welcomed the gathering, Lesliee compered the event.

    Little sisters of the poor serve and takes care of elderly with lots of love and kindness. Let heaven shower divine blessings on them and all the inmates.

    Its very easy to give charity in monetary , christianity is the only community who gives charity whole heart physically and in monterey with God fearing
