Mangaluru, Nov 10: Resident of Bantwal Goodinabali Muhammed Rafiq, the undertrial, who escaped from the police, on the evening of Friday, after he was being brought back to the sub jail of the city after his hearing at the Beltangady court, is still at large.
Rafiq is accused in a gold chain theft case. The police of Venoor police station had taken him for hearing at the court in Beltangady. After the hearing he was brought back in bus by the police and got down at PVS circle. When he was walking along with the escort cops, Rafiq suddenly pushed the police and escaped with his accomplice in the bike. Though the police chased him another bike, he could not be traced. Police are suspecting that Rafiq must have fled to the neighbouring state of Kerala.
SP of DK district Laxmiprasad has ordered for the complete investigation and report on the actual reason behind the incident. In addition, he has also declared suitable reward to anyone who gives information about the accused. Police have formed a special squad to search Rafiq. It is said that the accused had planned his escape, well in advance.
