Mangaluru, Nov 9: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda said that there was no question of supporting the BJP in the state.
Addressing media here on Saturday, November 9, he said, “MCC elections are coming up. JD (S) has fielded 14 candidates for the election who will contest independently and decision is up to the people.
“I know that JD(S) is lying behind when compared to other parties, while in Mangaluru BJP are at the forefront. JD(S) needs to be strengthened and am conducting state wide tour to take measures to strengthen the party,” he said.
When asked about JD (S) supporting BJP, Deve Gowda said, “There is no question of JD (S) supporting BJP in the state. After the by elections, we will see the move of Congress high command and take a decision. We have formed coalition government with both the national parties and learnt lessons from it.”
Speaking on the Supreme Court’s verdict over Ayodhya, he said, “I welcome the verdict of the Supreme Court. Supreme Court in the verdict mentioned that demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992 was wrong. If it was wrong then compensation should have been given for the Muslim community for the construction of mosque.”
