Goa: New high court complex to be ready by March says CM Sawant

Panaji, Nov 8: "Construction of the new high court complex at Porvorim will be completed by March 31, 2020," said chief minister, Pramod Sawant on Thursday while conducting an inspection of the under-construction court building along with Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) officials.

"The inauguration of the new HC will be held in April. Foreseeing the shifting and other procedures can be completed during summer vacation for the courts.

"88% civil works of the new building with seven court rooms are already completed. The total cost of the project when it was initially tendered was Rs 72 crore and it has subsequently increased to Rs 90 crore. We intend that from next year June, the high court should start functioning from the new building,” said Sawant, as quoted by TOI.

The government has not yet decided on the existing high court premises at Altinho once it is vacated, he said.
