Udupi, Nov 7: As the country waits with bated breath for the final verdict by Supreme Court on Ayodhya land dispute case, Pejawar Math seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji has warned to go on fast if peace is disturbed in any manner.
Addressing a press conference, the seer said, “there should be no victory celebrations, rallies, slogan shouting, incidents that will hurt the sentiments of people, unpleasant incidents, any kind of friction in reaction to Supreme court’s verdict on Ayodhya case, regardless in whose favour the court pronounces its judgment.”
“The judgment should be accepted peacefully. I will sit on fast if peace is disturbed in any manner,” he warned.
“The judgment is likely to be announced before November 15. It will be accepted as the final judgment with regard to Ram Mandir as the court is bound by the constitution. I appeal to people that if they want to celebrate, they can do so in their residences through Pooja and Bhajans. This appeal applies to all pro-Hindu organisations also,” he said.
With questioned with regard to the construction of Ram Mandir, the seer said that we will think over it after the verdict.
Speaking about giving up Tipu Jayanti celebrations and dropping lessons in text books on Tipu Sultan, the seer said, “Whatever that is taught in text books should be true. There should be no fabrication or glorification. It will not be wrong if some of the wars waged by Tipu are mentioned in the lesson,” he said.
