Karkala, Nov 6: The possibility of work beginning on Mangaluru-Atrady state highway soon is bright. The public works department office here served notices on the owners of land and building located by the roadside at Mundkoor, asking them to vacate them.
The notice states that survey has been planned on both sides of the road from Mangaluru-Atrady state highway 67 from 36.48 km to 46.28 km between Sankalakariya and Gundukallu. The department has sought support of the people.

Similar notices have been sent by the assistant executive engineer to 250 persons. It is learnt that the people are ready to give up their land and buildings if they get reasonable compensation.
Engineer of the department Mithun, said that the road between Sankalakariya bridge to Belman church has to be widened and that report would be sent to public works department in this respect. He said that those who lose their land and buildings will get compensation from the district administration. He hastened to clarify that this is not the beginning of the state highway work.
