Mangaluru, Nov 6: Officials of national highways department have requested the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district to ban vehicular traffic on November 7 to facilitate repair works on Gurpur Bridge falling on Solapur-Mangaluru national highway 169. The officials have brought to the notice of the officer that the bridge has been thoroughly damaged due to heavy rain, and huge potholes on the bridge are hindering vehicular movement.
The ban on movement of vehicles is proposed between 6 am to 6 pm on November 7.

During the traffic ban period, the vehicles coming from Moodbidri have been asked to take Kaikamba-Bajpe-Maravoor bridge road to reach Mangaluru. Vehicles going towards Moodbidri from the city have to take Maravoor bridge, Bajpe, Kaikamba, Moodbidri road.
The request made by national highways department has been widely circulated through social websites . Many have requested to close the road on Sunday as working class will suffer if the road is blocked on a working day. Many have requested the concerned to undertake other repair to the highway on the same day.
