Mangaluru, Nov 4: Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath has rubbished allegations by former MLA Mohiuddin Bava, who at a press meet had alleged that Kamath was pressurizing him to withdraw the assault case he had lodged.
Kamath was addressing a press meet on Monday, November 4.
“I have not pressurized anyone to withdraw the case, with regard to assault on former MLA Mohiuddin Bava,” Kamath clarified.
It may be recalled, on November 1 in a press meet, former MLA Mohiuddin Bava blamed Kamath that he was exerting pressure on him to withdraw case against Ajeem, son of former mayor Gulzar Banu, who had slapped him in public and also injured Bava’s PA in the scuffle that broke out soon after.
“Assault on any MLA is condemnable. When the persons who attacked Mohiuddin Bava approached me, I just called Bava and informed that they have approached me. I have not pressurized him or anyone to withdraw the case as I have no right to do so. As a public servant, I conveyed my message to Bava. I even called the police station to collect information about the assault,” Kamath said.
Kamath blamed Congress for being directly responsible for the increase of amount in water bills within the MCC limits. “This happened when Congress was in power at MCC. When elections are inching close, Congress is blaming BJP for increase of amount in water bills. In the last 5 years, Congress has failed to introduce water price in organised manner and collected water bills. Congress increased the water price all of a sudden in June when it was in power,” he said.
“We are confident that BJP will win the upcoming MCC elections, as people have shown lot of faith towards BJP,” Vedavyas Kamath concluded.
