Mangaluru: Traffic police who filled potholes to get Rs 10,000 from TWS & Civic Issues Group

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Nov 3: Touched by the honesty and initiative taken by traffic policeman Puttarama, who climbed up the lorry and unloaded the mud with a shovel to fill potholes near Bunts Hostel in city, will be honoured by TWS and Civic Issue Group.

The policeman did this special act after the repeated appeals to fill the same with the civic administrations went unanswered.

TWS and Civic Issues Group has decided to honour him with a cash gift of Rs 10,000.

"The act of traffic policeman Puttarama has put the people's representatives like MP, MLA, corporators and officials of MCC to shame. It has been repeatedly seen that the administration does not respond to the urgent needs of the civilians, especially the commuters. Hope the act of Puttarama will open their eyes and there will be more actions from the MCC to address the various issues in the city," said a statement from TWS and Civic Issues Group.

Puttarama, the constable who showed his dedication in trying to help in whatever small way he can to improve the conditions of the public, will be honoured by Joe Gonsalves, on behalf of the TWS and Civic Issues Group on Monday, November 4.

The damage to the poor quality and poorly designed roads
in Mangalore and Udupi can hardly be classified as POT HOLES,
    they are like large craters,

Of course the people in authority are aware of the bad state
of every road, be it the National Highways or the main roads and
bi-lanes in the cities but they have not implemented any action on
the Public Works Department to fill all these crates on some nice
and sunny days, for reasons best know to them. So many accidents
and deaths have occured, especially at nights, but who cares!

So the only solution is for every user of the roads, so spend Rs.50.- to
purchase 1 Kg. of Cement and 1 Kg. of Gravel - mix them well, and put
it into one crater at a time after 10pm when the traffic is least and cover
the same with an empty cement bag and place a big yellow painted stone
before the repair work - in this manner all pot holes or craters will be covered
without the need to draw the attention of this present government or
the present Incharge of these cities. Why waste time in expecting anything
from them but let this be a lesson for all in future elections or selections as
    is the case.
