Sullia, Nov 3: "The state government is committed to provide security cover to all the Hindu temples in the state. A discussion in this regard was held in a meeting with the Dharmika Parishad. We have also given strict orders to the police officers through the home department. Deputy Commissioners (DC) of respective districts have also been notified to provide enough security, where there is lack of the same," said Kota Srinivas Poojary, minister for Muzrai and Ports.
Srinivas Poojary spoke to the media persons at Subramanya near here after paying obeisance at the Kukke Subramanya temple and holding a meeting to assess the progress of developmental works of the temple, on Saturday, November 2.
The minister further said, "There is no financial issue for having security cover for temples like Kollur, Kateel and Kukke. We are taking actions to provide security to temples, where the income is low as the incidents of stealing ornaments and idols of gods and goddesses is on the rise. We are going to recruit a sub-inspector to the Kukke police station soon,"
"Once the duration of the administration boards of the 90 A grade temples under the Muzrai department gets over, applications will be called for the appointment of nominated members. I held the Dharmika Parishad meeting in the last week itself. After the receipt of applications, Dharmika Parishad will undertake the verification of the applications and finalize the names of nine nominated members. This whole process will be over within the end of the next month," said the minister.
About providing golden chariot to Kukke temple by the government itself, minister Poojary said, "The golden chariot for the Kukke temple will be provided by the government itself in a transparent manner. Approval in this regard has been already given by the government. After inspecting all the expenses for the project, building of the chariot will be undertaken. We welcome the gift of Brahmaratha to the Kukke temple by the devotees. The new Brahmaratha will be pulled during the annual festival of the temple this year."
"More stress will be given to provide basic infrastructure facilities to the devotees of Kukke temple, in addition to giving priority to their well being. A review meeting in this regard will be held soon within 15 days. In Mysuru and Bengaluru, property brought for the Kukke temple are available. These will be used for the fundamental facilities of the temple and developed in that direction. I will have discussion and spot inspection in this regard after taking into confidence local MLAs. We will also have meeting with Dharmika Parishad and implement the sixty pay commission recommendations to the personnel working for the temples. I will also ask the concerned officials to make the job of daily wage labourers working in the temple permanent," said Kota Srinivas Poojary.
Speaking on the annual festival of the temple, the minister said, "A meeting will be called on November 4 as the prelude to the annual Jathre under the chairmanship of the local MLA. Action will be taken to prevent any issues in holding 'Beedi Madesthana' from Kumaradhara River to the temple. Arrangements will also be made in such a manner that no inconvenience will be caused to the devotees."
Responding to the question of converting the Kukke holy place into an Authority, minister Srinivas Poojary said, "The local MLA has proposed to make the Kukke holy place as an independent Authority. The government will assess the pros and cons of this matter and decide the future course of action in this matter. A permanent officer will be recruited to Kukke temple soon. The Kukke Math and temple will do their individual works.”
