Mangaluru: Bad roads since four years - Residents of Kelarai to boycott MCC polls

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Nov 2: Peeved over the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and ward member’s apathy towards development in their area, residents of Kelarai lay out have decided to boycott the upcoming corporation election.

On Friday, November 1, the residents gathered in their area holding placards and banners. They openly stated that they are not going to vote in the MCC elections which are scheduled to be held on November 11. They said the Kelarai layout is falls in 36th ward which represents former mayor Bhaskar Moily.

“From the past four years, we are demanding road and the elected representatives and MCC officials are completely ignoring us. More than fifty families reside in the surroundings of Kelarai layout and all face difficulties without a proper road to the area. So we collectively decided to boycott this election as the representatives are not giving any importance to our votes. Their negligence shows that they do not need our votes, the residents said.

In a statement, the residents also warned a huge protest against ward member and MCC officials in the upcoming days.

None of the political party cares about such protests when most of the people work in the gulf or Bangalore. These people dont even come to vote even though they are in town. Dont expect any great reactions.

Best is not to vote at all... Simply we incur expenses to go to the booth and come back.. Right na Mighty?? Voting is our right and one should not miss it... Tell me after voting demanding works/development is not our right? Our right is only limited to the extent of voting???? No roads... No proper water supply in summer... No proper control of diseases like malaria/dengue...no fogging... No spraying etc etc. Just in Mangalore city how many people have died due to dengue in this year?

As the upcoming corporations are nearing we being the citizens should wisely cast our precious vote in favour of an individual background and not the party. Seeing the present scenario of the road condition where the progress of work is very slow especially the Balmatta area which has been a major inconvenience to the public .

"Think of the road before you fall into the thoad( Gutter) and VOTE"

Nothing will work. In North India, many people had tried one idea, which helped.
In the next presidential election, just duly fill the form with the fees for Indian President post. Once, the form is accepted, your village gets the road, water and electricity. No doubt, your fees will be forfeited, but your village people will have a smile on their face, because of you.

Why ward number 36 !!!! , if any body takes a round around 60 wards, the situation is still worst. It means nobody should go to vote this time. That what I think.

It's right to take the decision to boycott MCC vote. Mangalore people must boycott boycott vote untill PUMPWELL FLYOVER work gets completed. Politicians of either parties, engineers justify themselves with different reasons. Ultimately public is suffering because of their ignorance. Rise , rise untill you succeed...!

Driving on S. L Mathias Road has become a night mare - Road and drainage work has stopped and it feels like we are on a roller coaster when we drive through S.L Mathias road . Worst thing is that they have the audacity to ask us to vote - definitely not this time !!!!!

    This is a JOKE...
    WHO CARES?
In fact, What is the reason that Indian Civil Engineers, builders, contractors, overseers, Architects, Draughtsmen, Designers are so backward and incompetent?
is it the Nethas who control this sector and control the MONEY Bag?
Take any state of the nation..any for that matter all same..
which reflects so much on Management..from the central/State..
    why?
Can India have separate.. Ministry/departments to handle these Infrastructure sectors with A team of only Top brains /cream,, competent Persons from the Military. top brass
    to handle this area.:
Simulta ethe entire nation on 3D.. superimposed design /program.Zoning/coding/of:
    Infrastructure: Expressways"/Hih ways? bilanes..
    with Specifications/standards/codes..
    for :
    Industrial: residential: warehousing: commercial.
    URBAN and Rural.
    29 states.
    with proper Govt buildings..well designed..
    and well-built up...
    Non-interference from vested interest.
it should be only PROFESSIONAL.. SCIENTIFIC.
    LIKE jAPAN: KOREA: Taiwan: China.
    Nation comes first
    People come before us.
should be by LAW like in USA.
Any sub-standard.. in Quality should be punished by Law.

The supreme court and the election commission should come out and derecognize all the political parties. There should be only a ruling party and an opposition. This i am sure will drastically reduce corruption. Also ministers not discharging their duties have be dealt with severally and should be made a criminal offense, with a few years in jail and life time boycott from politics. However most of all, citizens of India should stop treating politicians as demigods and should treat them as public servants. We elect them and it is like namma chappal kaiyalli thakondu naave namma mukakke hodhage.

The story of this road is very unique: This is a case where administration, elected representatives during the time 2015-2016 destroyed a 20 feet width well lit road Muda approved road to the layout with all the influence and power . The influence was so much that Muda authorities and city corporation even though they new about the wrong doing were asked to close their eyes .
The citizens of the layout approach ed all the then elected city presentatives for MLA, corporator , AC,mayor and everyone knows the ground reality. District administration had also provided police protection to destroy the road and push all the families in the locality to a road that's today in horrible condition. Even today if the local residents try to repair the road cases are filed against them. Everyone only showed their helplessness to the situation .
If the elected representatives stood their ground and not buckled under votebank thought process situation is totally different
The only ray of hope is on the current administration DC ,and Muda official who are today willing to listen and help the situation rising above the party lines and work for the citizens at the ground level
