Mangaluru: Remodelled birthing unit, OT inaugurated at FMMCH

Mangaluru, Nov 1: The brand new state-of-the-art birthing unit was inaugurated at Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) by the president of Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) Fr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangaluru diocese on Friday, November 1.

The 15,000 sq ft complex housed in the Father Muller Medical College Hospital has for operation theatres OT’s (including a minor procedure room), special suite room with delivery room and bystander room, three special care rooms, six delivery suite rooms, facility for pre delivery, ultrasound facility, NST, partogram, and postoperative recovery rooms.

The fully spacious, ultramodern birthing unit also includes a fully fledged baby resuscitation unit with baby warmers and ventilation facilities. There is availability of the high dependency unit for high risk patients built like a sub ICU. Round-the-clock facilities are available for the duty doctors and food and medicine facilities are made available for patients. The new facility will bring in the joys of parenthood with comfort and care for which the institution stand for.

The event was attended by director of FMCI Fr Richard A Coelho who welcomed the gathering, administrator of FMMCH Fr Rudolph D’Sa briefed the gathering on the facilities available in the renovated birthing unit, administrator of FMMC Fr Ajith Menezes presented the vote of thanks while assistant administrator of FMMCH Fr Nelson Pais compered the event. Dr Nagaratna G, Prof and HOD department of OBG presented a memento to the president and director of FMCI.

A large number of well-wishers and media personal graced the occasion.
