Mangaluru, Nov 1: In a joint operation conducted by City Crime Branch (CCB) police and personnel from the Economic and Narcotic station, a gang of youths, who were selling various drugs to students and public, was arrested.
The CCB police conducted a lightning raid based on definite information that a gang of youth is buying banned drugs like Cocaine, MDMA, LSD, pills and cannabis from outstation states and selling the same to public of the city. They arrested four youths in this connection.
The arrested persons are Kishan Hegde (19), from Car Street, Habeel Ahmed (19) from Falnir, Anantha Kudva (21), from Car Street, and Gopinath Bhandarkar (24) of Attavar. They were taken into custody from Morgansgate in the city.
Police have confiscated 22 grams of Cocaine, six grams of MDMA, 75 pills and 10 gram Charas, the cumulative value of which is around Rs 2,50,000. In addition, the police have also seized three mobile phones and a two wheeler from the accused, the value of which is said to be Rs three lac.
A case in this connection is registered in the Economic and Narcotic police station. Further investigation is on. It is suspected that more people are involved in the crime.
The operation was conducted by the officials and personnel of CCB unit and Economic and Narcotic police station, under the guidance of city police commissioner Dr P S Harsha.
