Mangaluru, Oct 30: Costal Karnataka’s reputed oil major Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) donated four ambulances to taluk government hospitals of Beltangady, Sullia, Puttur and Bantwal on Wednesday, October 30.
Heeding to the appeal of district administration and the district health officer, to augment the healthcare facilities of rural Dakshina Kannada, MRPL had come out with a proposal to donate four ambulances to the four rural corners of the district. This was to help the poor and needy patients of the farthest corners of the district to reach better equipped hospitals of the Mangaluru city. This project was executed as part of the CSR initiative of MRPL which was appreciated and endorsed by the local representatives.
The handing over programme of four ambulances to health department of DK district was organised at government taluk hospital, Bantwal on Wednesday. Kota Srinivas Poojary, minister of formally handed over the ambulances to district health officials in the presence of Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada, Rajesh Naik, MLA Bantwal, Meenakshi Shantigodu, president ZP, Dr Ramakrishna Rao, district medical officer.
From MRPL BHV Prasad, GGM-HR and Subraya Bhat, GM-CSR were present during the handing over ceremony.MRPL donated these ambulances with a total expenditure of 52.62 lac.
Kota Srinivas Poojary thanked MRPL for contributing to the healthcare of the district through this compassionate contribution. He also mentioned that CSR activities of MRPL are playing a vital role in complementing the administration’s efforts to improve local healthcare. Nalin Kateel, encouraged MRPL for taking up rural healthcare as an area of CSR contribution. Dr Ramakrishna Rao appreciated MRPL for active and timely response to districts healthcare needs.
