Bengaluru, Oct 30: The police found during their investigation that the couple which targetted old couples without any children as their targets, had planned to settle down in Dakshina Kannada district. They also had visited Dharmasthala.
Venkatesh and his wife, Arpita, had gone missing after murdering Chandre Gowda and Laxmamma, resident of Garudachar Palya on October 16.
Although their initial urge was to visit Mandya after the murder, they decided against doing so as they were involved with a murder at K R Pet in the past. Later, they finally decided to go to the residence of Gautham from Dakshina Kannada district, whom they had come to know when working in a company in the past.
To ensure that the police lose track of them, the couple went to Hassan by bus and then to Dharmasthala. They stayed at temple town Dharmasthala for a few days and then went to the residence of Gautham at Mittamajalu in Dakshina Kannada district. They told Gautham that they wanted to stay with him for a few days as there was some problem in their family.
The couple made sure that Gautham did not get any suspicion about them. After two to three days, they told him that they want to rent a house in that village and stay there, and eke out a living by working, as they felt that their mental peace would be robbed if they return to their families.
It is said that they planned to stay here for a few months and then if the situation improves, to return to Bengaluru.
