Mangaluru, Oct 29: City police commissioner, Dr Harsha P S, said that preliminary investigation has indicated that Samson killed his sister, Fiona Sweedal Cutinho (16) on account of a feeling of jealousy nurtured by him against her, because of his belief that his parents were neglecting him and discriminating him as compared to his sister.
Samson, a student of a private engineering college here, had got addicted to drugs and other vices and cut short his education. He was under the impression that his parents were partisan towards his sister, Fiona, a brilliant first PU student, the commissioner said, addressing a press meet here on Monday October 28.
Samson told the investigators that his sister was provided with a good quality cellphone and she also got preference in food and other aspects as compared to him. As this feeling got deep-rooted, he killed his sister out of jealousy as per the current investigation, he added.
He said that the police will soon take Samson into police custody for an advanced probe. He has confessed that he hit his sister with a hammer, and the police will also conduct probe on the basis of reports from forensic experts relating to mortal remains of Fiona, he stated.
After the murder, the accused was away for two days from home, and complained of a headache. The commissioner said that the parents are not ready to accept the fact that their children have become drug addicts. Therefore, the police have been undertaking awareness programs against drugs in schools and colleges, the police commissioner said.
