Mangaluru, Oct 28: Editor of Pingara Kannada newspaper Raymond D’Cunha said at a press conference in the city that the 15th Year Pingara Rajyotsava Award will be awarded to eco-friendly, non-chemical, central government recognized and internationally appreciated mosquito killer machine MozziQuit inventor Ignatius Orwin Noronha of Mangaluru.
Irgantius Orwin Noronha, a Limca Book record holder, who invented, tried, tested and established a manufacturing unit of mosquito killing machine in Mangaluru, was recognized by central government and was granted Rs 15 lac for his achievement.
This machine was tested in Goshaalas, public places and houses in different sizes.
It is significant that an application was forwarded by a scientist of Bengaluru-based Malaria research centre suggesting Ignatius Orwin’s name for this. It is very important that a Mangalurean is recognized at this juncture of dengue and Malaria affected time.
The award function will be held at Town Hall on November 12. Bishop of Mangaluru diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha will be bestowing the award. MLC Ivan D’Souza, former MLA J R Lobo, Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Roy Castelino, former president of Konkani Sahitya Academy and Dr Suresh Negalguli, president, Chutuku Sahitya Parishad will grace the occasion.
There will be literature and cultural programmes by Mangaluru Taluk Chutuku Sahitya Parishad and recital of poems by 25 Kannada renowned poets on the occasion.
A poetic drama named Gokula Nirgamana will be performed by Shwetha Arehole.
Selection committee comprised of members CG Pinto, Dr BG Suvarna and president of district working journalists’ union Srinivas Indaje, Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, former President of Konkani Sahitya Acedamy Roy Castelino, president chutuku sahitya parishad Dr Suresh Negalguli. Coordination of the selection was done by Fr William Menezes and Elias Fernandes, director of Fourwinds advertising agency.
Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, former President of Konkani Sahitya Acedamy Roy Castelino and Elias Fernandez director, Fourwinds advertising agency, were present.
