Mangaluru, Oct 28: The Bharatanatyam 'Rangapravesha' of Remona Evette Pereira, disciple of Shrividya Muralidhar, was held at townhall in the city, on October 26.
The event was presented by Sourabha Sangeetha Nritya Kala Parishath, Mangaluru. Capt Ganesh Karnik, former member and opposition Chief Whip, Karnataka Legislative Council inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Sri Basavananda Swamiji, Seer, Shivananda Math, Bellari, Natyacharya Ullal Mohan Kumar, Natyaniketana, Kolya and Fr Francis Assisi Almeida, director, Sandesha Foundation, Mangaluru, graced the event as chief guests.
In his inaugural speech Capt Ganesh Karnik said, “There is no religion for art and culture. By her passion on Bharathanatyam, Remona has proved the same. She is one of the best example for India’s well-accepted face of ‘Unity in diversity’. Dance itself is a culture and it unites the people. I appreciate Remona’s hard work and dedication. I wish her more success in her future life.”
Gladies Celine Pereira, mother of Remona and Dr Vidya Muralidharan, founder, Sourabha Sangeetha Nritya Kala Parishath were present at dais.
Learning her classical dance alphabets from Suresh Attavar and Uma Kalluraya, Remona has been traversing in the field of Bharathanatyam for the past decade with composed goals. Her rigorous, disciplined and vigil training under the very sought after Dr Srividya Muralidhar at Sourabha Kala Parishath, inbuilt in her, the nuances and technicality of dance, dexterity of performance and sturdy base in abhinaya.
Remona is being trained in semi-classical dance for the past six years by Manoj Karipalla and Sandhya K. She is also being trained in western, contemporary by Pramod Kodikal Preethesh Kumar and Nicky Pinto.
Remona’s quest to learn other dance forms namely Kuchipudi, Kathak, Semi Classical Folk, Yakshagana, Western and Contemporary dance, proffered Remona more opportunities to establish and explore as an ambassador of dance.
Remona has bagged hundreds of prizes participating in innumerable competitions. She has also presented countless number of stage shows.
