Mangaluru, Oct 27: Police commissioner Dr Harsha P S has sought an explanation from the Circle Inspector (CI) of Mulky on the deputation of a heavily pregnant policewoman, who was put for the bandobast duty during the visit of DCM Ashwath Narayan to the district on Friday, October 25.
A commoner had clicked the photo of this pregnant police woman on duty holding the baton and had posted the same on social media. A journalist brought the same to the attention of the police commissioner.
Dr Harsha was extremely unhappy and said that it is not right to depute a heavily pregnant policewoman for public security duty while she should have been sent on maternity leave.
He has also instructed the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Mangaluru North division to look into this matter.
The commissioner also reminded in his response about the baby shower that was arranged for two policewomen of Kadri and Bunder police stations.
