Mangaluru, Oct 25: Deputy chief minister (DCM) Ashwath Narayan said, "We are confident of winning in the upcoming bypolls in 15 legislative constituencies.”
Ashwath was responding to a query at the Mangaluru International Airport on Thursday, October 25 of whether the bypolls are a threat for BJP. He further said, “We all know the present condition of Congress and JD(S). So there is no question of opposition giving any fight to us and we are confident of securing victory without any trouble.”
When asked about cabinet minister C C Patil statement that government does not have money, Ashwath Narayan said, "We have already spent Rs 40,000 crore for waiving farmers’ loans. There are several challenges in taking development works all together in a year. In facing these challenges, we come across several problems in which few are resolved. In the next budget, several developmental works will be taken up. The government is committed towards waiving farmers’ loans which needs to be done on priority.”
When asked about medical seat blocking scam, Ashwath Narayan said, "There is no such issue of seat blocking. IT raid was conducted on the basis of disproportionate and undeclared income and to investigate the source of undeclared money.”
From Mangaluru airport, DCM Ashwath Narayan will proceed towards Manipal and visit Udupi BJP office. At around 1 pm, he will address media at Mangaluru BJP office.
The DCM was accompanied by MLAs Bharath Shetty, Rajesh Naik and others.
