Mumbai: Diwali weekend will not be ruined by rain; IMD lowers warning to green alert

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai (SR)

Mumbai, Oct 25: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has lowered its heavy rainfall warning for the city to a green alert.

Many parts of the city including Malad and Kalyan areas received isolated heavy showers accompanied by thunder on Thursday.

Earlier this week, the IMD had issued a 'yellow alert' forecasting heavy rainfall at isolated places in the city on October 26 and 27. By lowering it to a green alert, the Meteorological Department’s prediction has now spelled relief in the city.

4.4 mm rainfall was recorded on Thursday by the IMD Colaba observatory, while 2 mm was recorded at the IMD Santa Cruz. This falls in the light rain category.
