Mangaluru, Oct 24: Multilingual star Arjun Sarja, has been constructing a huge temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman at Gerugambakkam, Chennai. He has chosen a carpenter skilled in wood carvings in tune with scriptures located at Bolar here. He came to the city on Wednesday, October 23, to go through the style of wood carvings and craftsmanship that has gone into it.
Sarja plans to visit Polali Goddess Rajarajeshwari temple on Thursday to personally check the architecture and carvings executed there.
The monolithic idol of Lord Hanuman to be installed at the said temple is about 35 feet tall and 27 tonnes of iron has been used. The idol has been carved by a team of craftsmen led by Karnataka sculptor Ashok Gudigar. The work of architecture for the temple has been given to Santosh Shetty Bolar, a city-based architect. Santosh, who is backed by the experience of handling a number of building designs, had requested Sarja to visit the city to see for himself the skilful wooden carvings at Polali temple.
Sarja said that he would check the wood carving at Polali temple and will go for it if he is impressed by it. He said that the Hanuman temple would be completed soon and the temple is planned to be dedicated to the world during February next year. He said that the devotees would be allowed to perform puja thereafter.
Sarja also revealed that he is thinking of producing a Tulu movie soon.
