Kundapur, Oct 23: Ernakulam-Pune super-fast train stopped at Kundapur (Moodlakatte) railway station for the first time on Tuesday October 22 afternoon. On behalf of Kundapur Railway Passengers Welfare Committee, a grand welcome was extended to the train when it arrived here at 2.15 pm on Tuesday.
The stop given for the train here will be highly beneficial for the passengers who are bound for Pune, Goa and Panvel from this region. The train runs twice in a week from Ernakulam to Pune on Tuesdays and Fridays. It will run from Pune to Ernakulam on Mondays and Thursdays. The train from Ernakulam will reach Kasargod at 11.20 am and the train from Pune will reach Kasargod at 2.15 pm. “The two minute-stop will be convenient for train passengers,” said committee president, Ganesh Putran.
“The committee had been actively pursuing with its demand for giving the train a stop here since the last nine years. 17 trains are allowed stop in Kundapur. The current achievement was possible because of the support extended by former MP, K Jayaprakash Hegde, to our efforts,” he said.
Jai Bhargava Balaga members were present along with the samithi to welcome the train. Samithi vice president Rajesh Kaveri, secretary Pravin T, Vivek Nayak, H S Hatwar, Joy Carvalho, Narendra, K P Srishan, Sridhar Suvarna, Shanker K, Sudhakar Shetty H, Nagaraj Acharya, Raghavendra Shet, Nagesh Shenoy, Dharma Prakash, Trivikram Pai, Jai Bhargava Balaga’s Ajith Shetty Kiradi, Dhanush Achary, Nagaraj Achary and others were present.
