Student jumps to death from seventh floor over water problem in hostel

Bengaluru, Oct 23 : An allegedly harassed undergraduate student committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of a college building of Amrita School of Engineering in the city's southern suburb on Tuesday, October 23.

Sri Harsha (22) is the student committed suicide.

As per details available, Harsha ended his life because of some harassment from the college management as he protested about water scarcity in the hostel.

The college management took exception to his complaint and suspended him from gaining access to the college and summoned his parents on Monday to talk about the issue.

Police said though Harsha's father rushed from Andhra Pradesh to meet the management, he was not allowed in, around that time the student is learnt to have jumped to death.

Sri Harsha's death triggered a violent protest from other students who broke window panes of college vehicles.

Parapanna Agarahara police registered a case of unnatural death and summoned the college management.

    This is Karnataka and this is our India. Why people connected to his death not arrested.

    College management is playing with the life of students. This is not first case.

    Poor parents lost their son. They thought they will educate their son. But they lost their son for ever.

    Education, especially post SSLC, residential programs has become mafia in the hands of Private Players. They attract people with big promises for big money and finally there is nothing special. They are not even able to hire good wardens. Once you are enrolled that's it everything is in their hands. You cannot take the risk of complaining.

    Educational institutions have certainly become money spinning industry....

    Powerful families, control these Medical, and Engineering colleges.... Moneybags students, get admission....... Those who are not from these elite groups, are frequently insulted, ragged...... Harsha, Rest in eternal peace !!!!

    Educational institutions everywhere in the country, especially in Karnataka are known mafias.
    neither the students nor the parents or even the public can go against them. they will be silenced.

    In our Dakshina Kannada district itself so many cases of deemed suicides happened in a popular? educational institution. Did anybody take action?

    So beware before saying anything against the educational institutions and also religious for that matter.

    But the decision you have taken is wrong. Ther are so many ways to complaint about your problems. This is a lesson to others that that they should not take this type of frustrated action for silly matters.
