Mangaluru, Feb 22: It is alleged that the murder accused persons in Harish Poojary are threatening prime witness of the case Shamiullah with death. In this context, a delegation of district Congress met Dakshina Kannada district SP Lakshmi Prasad and submitted an appeal requesting to give protection to Shamiullah. 

Harish Poojary was killed at Navoor of Bantwal city police station limits in November 2015.

The appeal says, "In this murder case, Shamiullah, who was with deceased Harish Poojary, is the prime witness. The case is in the trial stage now in the court. The murder accused and their supporters are threatening Shamiullah with life and pressurizing him not to attend the court hearing as witness. He is living under fear now. So a situation is created, which may hamper the inquiry of the case." 

The delegation was led by former minister B Ramanath Rai. Block Congress president Baby Kunder (Bantwal), Sudeep Kumar Shetty (Panemangalore), zilla panchayat members M S Mohammed, Padmashekhar Jain, Manjula Mave, Anitha Hemanath Shetty, taluk panchayat vice-president Abbas Ali, youth Congress president Prashant Kulal, town municipality member Gangadhar Poojary, former president of Akrama Sakrama committee Mayilappa Salian, former president of BUDA Sadashiva Bangera, prominent leaders like Jagadish Koyila, Lokesh Suvarna, Nawaz Badakabailu, Chandrashekhar Poojary Baltila, A K Sharukh Ahmed, Victor Pais and Sadananda Shetty Kavalakatte were also in the delegation.
