Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (HB/KR)
Udupi, Oct 21: On the occasion of Deepavali, Daijiworld Udupi and Kishoo Enterprises, in association with St Mary’s English Medium School (CBSE) Kannarpady, will be organizing ‘Rangina Rangoli’ rangoli making competition on October 26, from 2.00 pm onwards in the premises of St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady.
Rangoli is an art form, originated in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor or the ground using materials such as coloured rice, dry flour, and coloured sand or flower petals. The purpose of rangoli is not only for decoration, but it is sign of welcoming and hospitality too.
During the auspicious occasion of Deepavali, it is the tradition to draw colourful rangoli on the entrance of houses and in front of ‘tulsi katte’. There is a belief in Hindu religion that there is spiritual benefit in rangoli. It gives positive energy. The design, lines, symbols, curves and colours all play important role, it is believed.
The competition will be held in two categories:
For below 20 years – Using floral petals
For above 20 years – Using powder
Rules
The rangoli design should not exceed 4*4 feet
Maximum 2 hours will be provided to complete the art work. Priority will be given for creativity
The competition begun at sharp 2.30 pm, contestants must report half an hour to the venue
Organizers will provide the space. All necessary materials needs bring by the contestants.
Contestants must be bring ID card with them – age proof
First, second and third prizes will be given in each category
The winners will get cash prizes, trophies and certificates
A creative outstanding Rangoli design will get special prize in each category
All participants will get certificates
Judges decision is final
The last date for the registration is on October 23
