Koppal, Oct 20: More than 350 techies, who were stuck at Virupapura Gaddi of Gangavati in the district due to floods, were rescued by the resort owner.

Tungabhadra River is flooded due to the incessant rain in the Tungabhadra river basin area. The owner of the resort in which the techies were staying, safely made them cross the river.

Last August, more than 500 techies, who had come for outing here, were stranded there and it was a big task to rescue them. The district administration had filed a complaint against the owner of the resort during that incident. All the resorts, hotels, shops and other establishments had closed down their business for more than two months after the incident. Only after the owner of the resort got anticipatory bail, the business of establishments of Virupapura Gaddi started around 15 days ago.

In the midst of these developments, as coracle boating is prohibited in the Tungabhadra River, revenue inspector Manjunath and village accountant Mahalakshmi arrived at the spot and confiscated all the coracles.

When the winter sets in after the rainy season is over, scores of foreign tourists arrive at Virupara Gaddi and stay there for months. Now the arrival of foreign tourists has begun. However, the resort owners are not certain of accepting online bookings now as there is flood in the Tungabhadra River. The resort owners need to furnish the details of the tourists residing in the resort compulsorily to the rural police station. Violation of any kind will attract legal action.
