Bhatkal, Oct 20: A man was found murdered in a lodge here on the night of Saturday, October 19.
Mohammed Affan (26) son of Mohammed Ali Jabali is the deceased person.
The incident came to light at around 9.30 pm.
It is said that a group of 5 assailants are involved in the murder.
Later locals caught a person who is believed to be one of the suspects.
Affan’s brother Nabeel informed the police that CCTV has recorded five people running away from the spot of the murder.
Nabeel said when he reached the lodge he saw Affan lying on the floor with the bed sheet around his neck. When he removed the bed sheet, he came to know that Affan was not breathing and was murdered.
Preliminary enquiries reveal that a fight broke out among people in the room as some marks could be seen on the walls and a bottle used for the fight was found in the room.
The exact reason for the murder is yet to known.
Bhatkal ASP Nikhil, along with his team, rushed to the spot and started the investigation.
Police have taken the CCTV footage from the lodge.
Further investigation is going on.
The body has been sent to Manipal for post-mortem.
